the United States\u2019 largest trading partner by total goods value (U.S. Census Bureau, 2025). Much of the growth has been driven by manufacturing expansion in automotive, electronics, and industrial equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But while factory construction accelerated, logistics infrastructure has lagged. Rail corridors, border ports of entry, and intermodal terminals are under strain as volumes scale faster than capacity additions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gap is becoming visible in transit times, dwell, and inventory buffers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rail and Border Pressure Points<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rail is central to nearshoring economics, particularly for automotive and heavy manufacturing. Yet cross\u2011border rail fluidity remains uneven. According to the Surface Transportation Board, congestion and service reliability issues continue to affect key Mexico\u2013U.S. rail gateways (STB, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the border, staffing constraints and inspection variability further complicate flows.
